Point of Honor
Daniel's Hill / 112 Cabell Street / Lynchburg, VA 24505 / (434) 847-1867

Many distinguished figures and prominent leaders have resided or set foot in this historic and hallowed estate. Completed in 1815 by Dr. George Cabell, Sr., a prominent local physician, friend of Thomas Jefferson and physician to Patrick Henry, this Federal-style home preserves the classical designs of 19th century America. Vivid colors and lavish furnishings depict an atmosphere reminiscent of Southern hospitality. It was also the antebellum home of Col. John S. Langhorne, whose daughter Elizabeth Langhorne Lewis spearheaded reform for women’s suffrage. The original tract was surrounded by wilderness where Monacan Indians once camped. Historic James River can be seen from the home’s windows. Daily tours every half hour, Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday noon-4 p.m. Seasonal events. Gift shop on site. Admission rates apply.
