In most places, history is a thing of the past...
...out of sight, out of mind. But when you visit the Arts Along 460, history comes alive.
You can almost feel the pulse of progress, of the men and women who toiled for survival, who tilled the land for food, who bled and died for the freedom and sovereignty of our nation, as you explore the historical sights and sounds of the Arts Along 460.
Their innovative spirit, unflinching courage and fierce commitment to freedom still reside here, still heard in the voices of entrepreneurs and teachers, still chiseled on the faces of the soldiers and craftsmen, still fueling the debates in the courts of law and government chambers.
Many of our national heroes contributed not only to the establishment of our country, but to the development of this precious region of Virginia. Men like Thomas Jefferson and Booker T. Washington; women like Anne Spencer and Eleanor D. Wilson; the heralded men who gave their lives at D-Day … and the families they left behind, many of them residing right here in the communities along 460.
Citizens of all varieties continue to build on the foundation laid by these Founding Fathers, and the sacrifices of these great men and women are commemorated throughout the region.
If history is your passion, you will be overjoyed with what you’ll find in the Arts Along 460.
