The Dance Theatre was founded in 1999 to create accessible dance programming and establish a dedicated arts facility in Lynchburg's revitalized downtown area. The facility now includes three spacious dance studios, a reception area, student lounge, the dance library (featuring over 300 dance books and films), costume shop, and an affiliated Pilates Studio. The Theatre presents a full season of performances featuring works of major modern dance literature and illuminating the Repertory Ensemble.
